What you missed because we are inadequate bloggers (and sometimes sheepish)

Here is stuff that YOU missed from our intriguing and most interesting lives (limited to the past year, of course).

EASTER

We had fun one night with some friends and colored eggs. (We also planned a pretty awesome ward breakfast/easter egg hunt, but we don't have any pictures of that). The rubric for which eggs belong to whom is easy: cute are Sandi's, ugly are Mike's.

The next event that we failed to cover is also something that we don't have pictures of. After finals ended in May, I moved down to Boise for an externship with an unnamed employer. Sandi stayed in Moscow to take a couple of summer school classes. So we were apart for about 2 weeks (except on weekends, when I got to drive on the fabulous route between Boise and Moscow). Sandi will say that she got the bum part of the deal because she was stuck in Moscow with a Huffy. So, she wins. Whilst in Boise we were able to stay at my Aunt and Uncle's home before they came back from their mission. It was really kind of them and really saved us a lot of hassle. We also got to spend a lot of time with friends and family in the area, which segues into the next big event (also with few pictures): The THREE WEEKS in Rexburg.

After my externship, we moved to Rexburg and mooched off of parents for about three weeks. We had a good time with reunions, as mentioned here. While there, we also got to eat at Taco Time and do some work for my parents, which included painting shutters, clotheslines, corbels , and the basketball pole and backboard. A few days before we planned to come home, we were working on getting these projects done. Sandi went down to finish the clotheslines, and I, being very proficient at all manual labor, decided that I could finish the backboard on my own, without anyone to brace the extension ladder, upon which I was perilously perched. Five minutes later, the ladder slipped and I went down with it. The result was marginally gruesome, but thankfully I only had a sore knee for a few days, with no broken bones. Part of the scar persists, however. (WARNING-SEMI-GRAPHIC/GROSS PICTURE. If you do not like hairy things, turn away now!!! (says sandi))

So, we'll see if that ever goes away completely, but it was much worse and has healed nicely.

HALLOWEEN

We carved pumpkins for FHE one night after Sandi found some pumpkins online that we tried to emulate. I carved the Transformer/Autobot and she carved the Batman.

I don't know where I was, but apparently I didn't make the cut. There was a stake party this year instead of just a ward one and we went as Ann Veal and Michael Bluth (from a TV Series called "Arrested Development"). Ok, really we just made T-shirts that said "I heart (an actual heart) mayoneggs" and "her?". It makes a little more sense after watching this clip:

We had some pictures, which were taken by a friend that were misplaced on the hard drive somewhere. If we find them we'll update. If you are interested in "Arrested Development," you can watch the whole series online, for free, on Hulu.

The week after Halloween, we went to a friend's 30 birthday party. It was themed "Bringing Back 1978," so we went in corresponding costume. The following picture was stolen from another blog (Thanks Chris and Alyssa!).

In November, we went home for Thanksgiving (and oddly enough didn't take any pictures). Sandi also started a cake decorating class at Michael's. She's got some serious skills, even if the frosting is Crisco based and not that tasty.

These are her first two cakes, and she is well on her way to being a pro! Of course, she is married to me, so things like this happen:

Frosting is really hard to get out of a beard, by the way.

Before Christmas, we were finally able to put up our tree. Last year we got a pretty good deal at Target on a fake, pre-lit tree. Unfortunately, as we put it together, the top section didn't light, so we supplanted its lights with a few of our own. Sandi took a pretty cool picture, though.

For Christmas, we headed down to Rexburg for the break. We had a good time, but the roads getting there added another 4 hours to our journey. It didn't help that we had to wait at least 30 minutes for this to be cleaned up.

Sandi helped her sister with some tie-dying for her sister's friends.

And Rexburg got about 2 feet of snow while we were there. We even got stuck, in my Mom's Pilot, Christmas afternoon trying to get out to Sandi's house.

We gave and received some pretty sweet presents. My dad and Sandi's sister Heather received some of the best deals that thrift stores had to offer. Heather got a special mirror with a horse and her name frosted on it, and my dad got a puzzle entitled "Whiskers on wicker." (And yes, he deplores cats).

Also, the day before we left, I accidently washed (and dried) Sandi's iPod shuffle that she uses when she runs. Santa delivered a replacement.

My sister gave us a floor pillow named "TSUPE," which stands for "the second ugliest pillow ever," and which we affectionaly call "Zupe."

We also splurged and gave ourselves a Love Sac this year. We have enjoyed having another place to sit, and is most likely our most comfortable piece of furniture.

Sorry for the length of this post. We hope that you are doing well, and in the future we be better at blogging so you don't have to take our lives in a year at a time. Mike and Sandi

Wow. Seriously--Easter? It's like you have this secret life we never knew about. (Great pictures of the eggs, by the way. And cool cakes, Sandi.)

Also, that is about the coolest pillow I've ever seen (and second ugliest). Your sister must really love you.

Wendy

P.S. My word verification for this comment is "sinshe"--as in, "Driving in two feet of snow is sinshe with a Pilot."
